If you have a great attitude and basic mechanical skills, you can begin your education and training for a Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician soon! ThinkBIG, the Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program, is designed to develop technically competent entry level service technicians for Caterpillar dealerships regionally and throughout the world. Caterpillar Inc. (Peoria, IL) endorses the program and Butler Machinery Company, the Caterpillar dealer in North and South Dakota, partners with students enrolled at either North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS “ Wahpeton, ND) or at Lake Area Technical Institute (LATI “ Watertown, SD).

The ThinkBIG Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician Program is available at NDSCS and LATI!

Students receive up-to-date technical training on Caterpillar equipment and systems through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory instruction and an internship at Butler Machinery. Work experience at the dealership is structured to relate to the most recent classroom/lab subjects covered at school. Upon completion of the program, graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS) and employment may be offered.

ThinkBIG will be divided up into 9 terms. Terms will rotate between classroom instruction at either NDSCS in Wahpeton, North Dakota or LATI in Watertown, South Dakota and a Butler location. During these paid internships, students will earn over $18.22 per hour with a mandatory minimum of 1,280 internship hours.
