Butler Machinery Company High School Work Study
Program
Program Objective
The objective of this training is for high school students
to enter the Heavy Equipment Diesel industry. This training
will give you a view of the industry before you make
an investment into your career. It will give you exposure
to all departments and company operations and will provide
on the job training in partnership with a mentor.
You Will Experience
At Butler Machinery Company, you will experience working
with great people on equipment that is high tech! You
will be exposed to Satellite-based navigation systems,
Sophisticated computer-based diagnostics, Electronically
controlled engines, and State-of-the-art hydraulics.
Our intentions are to develop future Service Technicians
that possess critical thinking, problem solving, communications,
and interpersonal skills.
Technical careers are the fastest growing segment of
the job market. The facts are clear! By 2010, 60-70%
of jobs will be in technical fields. That means the
traditional four-year college is no longer the only
option.
You will be assigned a mentor who is knowledgeable
in the company and an expert in the field of diesel
technology.

Basic Function of Program
• Learn about the job possibilities by showing
existing
workers in different departments and discussing work
and life with adult mentors.
• Experience the workplace environment first-hand
through
paid work experience
• Acquire the skills necessary for a successful
career
• Formulate goals and plans for a future previously
unimagined.
Responsibilities
School- Instructors play a critical
role during the selection process. They encourage the
students to apply and give feedback to BMC regarding
the students work performance in class. If disciplinary
action is required, the instructor and parents get involved.
Parents - Parents are required to
attend an introductory meeting to learn about our program.
Parents will be encouraged to assist their child in
taking the necessary steps to explore the many career
opportunities at Butler Machinery.
Butler Machinery Company - BMC offers
temporary employment. The philosophy is not a job, but
a working experience to learn and grow. BMC will be
the teacher in this process and will provide the education.
Mentors - Provide information about
Butler Machinery Company to help the student succeed
in this industry.

in the life" of a service technician and gain exposure
to BMC, while participating in an in-depth one on one
experience. Ask your high school guidance counselor
